Coffee Date Vol. 3

I'm joining this coffee date train with Lecy at A Simpler Grace. Grab a cup of coffee with her, too!

If we were on a coffee date...
We'd meet in my living room and I'd make pitchers of this coconut cold brew coffee for us. I'd also let you sit in our big blue denim comfy chair because it's the best seat in the house.

If we were on a coffee date...
I'd tell you that summer school is halfway over and I'm ready. So ready. Like, my digital thermometer is yelling at me. My classroom is like a room full of turkeys on Thanksgiving evening. Done.

If we were on a coffee date...
I'd probably bust out all of my Goodwill finds. Did you know Target overflow (or something) ends up at Goodwill? I literally just bought shoes I've been eyeing at Target at Goodwill for a fraction of the cost. And sweaters and shirts. I was thrilled.

If we were on a coffee date...
I'd ask if you've spent any significant time away from your husband because mine is embarking on a mission trip to Belize in a few days and I'm a bit nervous about having a house to myself. Oh, and two toddlers.

If we were on a coffee date...
You might ask me how my house is so clean and I'd have to tell you that we pay someone to come and make that happen and I'm not sad about it. Not one bit. I'd also tell you about all the other "extras" we splurge on and ask what you think about this whole hustle culture that's surrounding us. It doesn't sit well with my soul.

If we were on a coffee date...
We'd eat these delicious bars and finish every last one as we let the conversation take us wherever it needed to go. We'd talk longer than we planned and when we finally did say goodbye, we'd still have lots to say.

When was the last time you took a deep breath and sat down with a cup of something delicious to just ponder life? We can't replace everything with hustling...that just can't end well in the grand scheme of things. What do you think?

  1. Coconut cold brew sounds really refreshing! It's been so long since I went to a Goodwill. I definitely need to swing by there to check it out. Wow, Belize? What a trip. I'll definitely keep you all in prayer while you are apart from each other. Girlfriend, there is no shame in hiring someone to help with the housework. It's impossible for one or two people to do it when you both have jobs and kids to chase after. If, at the end of the day, it takes a little stress off your plate and allows you to spend that time with your family, it's an investment well made. I'm so glad you were able to join the coffee date this month, Lindsey! Hope to see you next time!

  2. I love anything with coconut in it, so that coffee sounds perfect! Having your husband away on a mission trip sounds super challenging, but I’ll pray that God gives you the strength you need. I find it hard enough when my husband works night shifts! Hiring someone to clean your house on a regular basis is actually a really good idea! Maybe we should all be doing that instead of stressing needlessly. Lovely to have coffee with you this month, Lindsey!

    1. Bella, I think we should all be doing things to keep us from stressing about things that don't really define our lives. Money is obviously a factor, but it shouldn't be looked down on.

Thank you for your prayers! I'm handling this way better than I expected and it's due to all of the prayers that are happening.

      Until next time, Lindsey

  3. Those drinks would go perfect with the coconut-chocolate muffins I whipped up the other day. I used to have a cleaning lady and I loved how the house looked. Currently we don't and its a mess. I just can't find energy and motivation. All the best with your new challenge – how long will your husband be gone? Happy days to you and yeah for summer vacations, Tobia

    1. Tobia, those muffins sound delicious! My husband will be gone until Saturday and we're already halfway there! How do you feel about the mess? Sometimes I can handle it and sometimes I can't...

Thank you for stopping by! Until next time, Lindsey
