Bug Day at Orange Home Grown's Education Farm

A few weeks ago we attended Bug Day at Orange Home Grown's Education Farm. OHG is our local Farmer's Market and they have this sweet little farm right in the heart of Old Towne Orange that they use for educational purposes and much more! Payton and Maverick were a bit overwhelmed at first but quickly warmed up to all the activities they had to offer.
I think Maverick's favorite was sitting on his Dadda's shoulders. Understandably so. They had crafts, flower planting, bugs to look at and touch, bee hives, kindness rocks #OCRockin, and a ladybug release. I'm sure they had even more but we couldn't get to everything because there was just so so much.
Everyone there was extremely welcoming and festive. Do you see those butterfly "ears"? It was a wonderful morning of fresh air, sunshine, good old fashioned learning, and orange eating. Getting dirty is our favorite way for our kiddos to learn about the world, so we just figure out how to handle it. Haha. Sometimes with more grace than others.
We so appreciate this little nook of our community. Check out everything they do and have to offer. We'll have to share about the actual Farmer's Market on another day. Josh and I have been going since before we had kiddos and then it became so much more fun with the kiddos because it is the most kid-friendly Farmer's Market I've ever been to. Stay tuned.
What kid-friendly events does your community have to offer?
Happy outings!

  1. What a fun day out! I would have loved to see the ladybug release; I've adored this bugs since I was a kid. The beehives would have been cool too, I adore those little yellow creatures ☺️

    1. Indya, you would have been in good company with so many other humans who love the same things! XOXO Lindsey
